ESSCI and SAIL Partner to Enhance STEM Education in India

In a significant step to enhance STEM education in India, the Electronics Sector Skills Council of India (ESSCI) has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with the Steel Authority of India Limited (SAIL) as part of their Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) initiatives. This partnership aims to establish STEM Labs, also known as ATAL INNOVATION LABS, in schools across the country. The collaboration between ESSCI and SAIL is focused on creating advanced STEM labs that offer students hands-on learning experiences in science, technology, engineering, and mathematics. By promoting innovation and critical thinking, these high-tech labs are expected to play a crucial role in grooming the next generation of skilled professionals. This initiative demonstrates the commitment of ESSCI and SAIL to promote STEM education in India, preparing students for future challenges and opportunities in the ever-evolving technological landscape.

SAMSUNG INNOVATION CAMPUS PHASE III

In a significant step towards fostering tech talent across the country, Samsung has partnered with the Electronics Sector Skills Council of India (ESSCI), signing a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to train 15,000 youth nationwide under Phase 3 of the Samsung Innovation Campus.

Building on the success of the previous phases, Samsung has now launched Samsung Innovation Campus – Phase 3, further strengthening its commitment to empowering India’s youth with future-ready skills. This phase will be implemented across six states: Uttar Pradesh, Karnataka, Andhra Pradesh, West Bengal, Telangana, and Tamil Nadu. The program is designed to equip young individuals aged 18–25 with advanced skills in cutting-edge technologies such as Artificial Intelligence (AI), Internet of Things (IoT), Big Data, and Coding & Programming, thereby enhancing their employability in emerging tech domains.

This year, the initiative introduces an even more competitive and rewarding structure. Course toppers from each state will be facilitated with a cash prize of INR 1 Lakh. Among these state toppers, national toppers will be selected and awarded an additional INR 1 Lakh, along with an exclusive opportunity to visit Samsung’s headquarters and manufacturing plant in Noida, offering valuable exposure to world-class industry practices and innovation ecosystems.

Through Phase 3, Samsung and ESSCI aim to create a larger, more impactful skilling ecosystem that nurtures innovation, strengthens industry-academia collaboration, and prepares India’s youth to lead in the technology-driven future.

LG Retail Promoter Program

The Electronics Sector Skills Council of India (ESSCI) and LG Electronics India Pvt. Ltd. signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) on 31 st January 2025 under the LG Retail Promoter Program to provide free training to underprivileged youth. This initiative aims to equip them with the necessary skills and certifications to become job-ready In-store Demonstrators in the electronics retail sector.

The program has already proved successful, with 1264 unemployed youth from 18 states across India completing the training and receiving hands-on experience. The program also includes a five-month on-the-job training at LG retail stores, along with a monthly stipend that is at par with industry standards.

SAMSUNG DOST PROJECT

Samsung India launched ‘Samsung DOST’ (Digital & Offline Skills Training), a CSR initiative that aims to make youth job-ready for the electronics retail sector.3213 youth trained in 2024-2025 and 4700 are under training in 2025-2026 . Samsung India’s largest smartphone and consumer electronics brand has partnered with India’s premier skill development organization, Electronics Sector Skills Council of India (ESSCI), to execute the program through its nationwide skills training centers. Samsung DOST is the biggest skills training program in the electronics sector.
Samsung has been India’s committed partner for the last 25 years, leading the consumer electronics and smartphones space with strategic investments in manufacturing, R&D, retail and community development. Samsung has set up the world’s largest mobile factory in Noida and is a key player in the government’s large-scale electronics manufacturing push, which is expected to create significant number of job opportunities for youth in manufacturing as well as the retail sector.
Considering the potential of employment generation post skill training, Samsung signed a Memorandum of Understanding with ESSCI for the ‘Samsung DOST’ program under which youth received 200 hours of blended classroom and online training, followed by five months of on-the-job training (OJT) at Samsung retail stores, along with a monthly stipend at par with industry standards. This helped the youth acquire new competencies and skills needed for jobs in India’s fast growing electronics retail environment.
The Samsung DOST program is aligned to the Government of India’s Skill India initiative and is an embodiment of our vision of #PoweringDigitalIndia that seeks to empower the next generation of young India. With this new program, we aim to close the skills and employability gap among youth in the country, helping them find jobs in the fast-growing electronics retail sector.”
The participants were trained at various training centers accredited and approved by ESSCI. The training was in accordance to the National Skill Qualification Framework, which is aligned to industry needs, and included skillsets such as customer engagement, managing sales counters, handling customer queries, product demonstration & selling skills and several other soft skills, including post- Covid etiquettes, preparing them for a career in electronics retail. During the OJT, participants were made familiar with the functioning of electronics retail stores through live demonstrations, role play techniques and hands-on training.
The participants for the program were youth who have completed school education and were mobilized through ESSCI’s approved training partners at various centers across India. The assessments and certification of the participants were done by the Electronics Sector Skills Council of India (ESSCI) after the participants complete their OJT.

Amara Raja – ESSCI Centre of Excellence

The Amara Raja – ESSCI Centre of Excellence is a skill development initiative supported by the Amara Raja Group through Amara Raja Advanced Cell Technologies Pvt. Ltd. and implemented by the Electronics Sector Skills Council of India (ESSCI). The MoU for this initiative was signed on February 25, 2025.
The project aims to provide free skill development training with employment opportunities to unemployed youth from Mahabubnagar District and across Telangana State, enabling them to acquire industry-relevant technical skills and improve their employability.

The Centre of Excellence offers training in the following job roles:
1. Electrician
2. HVAC Technician
3. Electric Vehicle Service Technician
Through structured training programs, hands-on practical learning, and an industry-aligned curriculum, the initiative seeks to create a skilled workforce capable of meeting the growing demand in the electrical, HVAC, and electric vehicle sectors. The project is currently ongoing and focused on empowering youth with sustainable livelihood opportunities.

ESSCI-ERICSSON SKILL TRAINING FOR YOUTH

The Skill Training for Youth project was successfully implemented under the partnership between Ericsson India Private Limited and Electronics Sector Skills Council of India, achieving 100% enrolment of 750 candidates across 10 Government ITIs and NSIC centres. Training was delivered successfully in four high-demand technical job roles, and all batches completed the required training hours along with assessments across all centres.

The project also surpassed its gender inclusion target, with more than 50% participation from women candidates, promoting stronger representation in technical fields. Certification and placement facilitation are currently in progress, supporting employment opportunities for trained youth and creating measurable CSR impact for Ericsson India.

ESSCI-ABB SMART CENTRE FOR ELECTRICIANS PHASE – II

The ESSCI – ABB Smart Centre for Electricians, Faridabad – Phase II, initiated under the MoU dated 08 July 2025, aims to train 210 candidates to strengthen the skilled workforce in the electrician sector, building on the success of Phase I.

During the reporting period (July 2025 – February 2026), four batches comprising 140 candidates have successfully completed training. Batch 1 and Batch 2 assessments have been completed, while Batch 3 and Batch 4 assessments are scheduled for 14th and 15th March 2026 respectively.

A Certification Ceremony for Batch 1 and Batch 2 was conducted on 27 January 2026 to recognize successful candidates. Mobilization for Batch 5 and Batch 6 (70 candidates) is currently in progress.

The program continues to be implemented as per the approved curriculum, training schedule, and MoU guidelines, contributing to industry-ready skills, employability, and local job creation in alignment with NEP 2020 objectives.
